Pre-Trip Maintenance
Above-the-rail wash, deck scrub and SiO2 wax protection before John's family trip to Block Island.
This seasonal marine project started with an above-the-rail maintenance service before a family trip to Block Island and is continuing through fall maintenance and a full 2-step gel-coat correction planned for spring.
Before John took the Silverton to Block Island with his family, Blain Co. completed a preliminary above-the-rail wash, thorough deck scrub and SiO2 wax protection application. The service cleaned up the exterior presentation, refreshed the deck surfaces and added protection ahead of the trip.
John was very satisfied with the first visit and scheduled Blain Co. to return for another full-vessel maintenance wash and wax before the boat is shrink-wrapped in early November. After winter storage, the project moves into its restorative phase with a full-vessel 2-step gel-coat machine correction before next season's launch.
That spring correction is intended to bring back the depth, clarity and gloss of the gel coat for a showroom-ready finish before the Silverton officially goes back in the water.
Rather than treating each visit as an isolated wash, this project is being handled around how the boat is actually used, stored and prepared for the next season.

A full-vessel maintenance wash and wax before the Silverton is shrink-wrapped for the season.
A full-vessel machine correction and polishing process aimed at restoring a deep, bright, showroom-ready finish before launch.
This profile will continue to be updated as the scheduled seasonal work is completed.
Regular washing and protection help keep a large vessel presentable and reduce the buildup that accelerates finish deterioration. When oxidation and gloss loss need more than maintenance, machine correction addresses the gel coat directly. Combining both lets the boat stay protected during the season while setting up a much stronger finish for the next one.
Send the vessel length, location, current condition and photos. Blain Co. can recommend whether your boat is best suited for maintenance washing, 1-step polishing or a more restorative 2-step gel-coat correction.
